"People
are the centre of the parish and this is your Sacred space.
Even if you don't worship regularly, you will be welcomed
into our churches for weddings, baptisms and other sacred
occasions. We want to continue the great work we have been
doing so that our parish churches become places of welcome,
of invitation and of new openness..."
Fr. Francis Garvey P.P.
The Parish of Kiltoghert is a parish steeped in history,
serving a wide area that includes Carrick-on-Shannon and the
country townlands of Leitrim Village, Gowel and Jamestown.
The parish is served by only three priests tending to all
mass services, baptisms, weddings and deaths.
There is a rich vein of history running right through the
parish, and the parish is fortunate in that the information
has been well preserved so that it can be passed on from generation
to generation. The parish is also progressive, a strength
that can be seen with the work that is, or has been carried
out in all four churches.
This site intends to be informative - making people aware
of their history, while at the same time keeping them informed
of latest news and developments, including the progress of
St Mary's renovations.
If you have anything you would like to add to the site, please
feel free to forward it to us in any format that suits you.
